Union Minister of State for Chemicals and Fertilisers Hansraj Gangaram Ahir said that the BJP-led NDA government at the Centre made efforts to revive eight sick fertilizer companies under the public sector, and as part of that sanctioned an amount of Rs. 5,000 crore to the Ramagundam FCI unit.
“We have two major issues – crisis in farm sector and unemployment – before us, which if resolved, the country would progress extremely well. Prime Minister Narendra Modi focused on them. The budget for 2016-17 was framed keeping in view those challenges,” he said, while addressing the BJP cadres here on Thursday.
The Union Minister who was an MP from Chandrapur in Maharashtra for the fourth time was here in connection with the investiture ceremony of Palle Ganga Reddy, district BJP president, for the second time. He is also party in-charge of the State. Referring to the ‘Make In India’, ‘Start-up India’ and ‘Digital India’ programme, Mr. Ahir said that the country has been making rapid strides in industries after the launch of these three, and brought a whopping Rs. 8 lakh crore FDIs into the economy. “We may not be able to provide employment to all but we are confident of ensuring jobs to at least 50 per cent youth,” he said.
Turmeric board
Mr. Ahir assured turmeric farmers and BJP leaders that he would make efforts from tomorrow itself for the sanction and establishment of a turmeric board in the district.
Replying to the request made by former MLA Yendala Lakshminarayana at the meeting of party cadres here on Thursday, the Minister said that he was aware of the problems of turmeric farmers of the State, and recalled that he himself took the representatives of turmeric farmers to the then Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar once to put their demands before him.
